The Artera Manifesto

Artera was founded on the concept of funding an artist’s next idea today, in the present moment, through a community of art patrons.

Art patronage defined:

A patron of the arts has historically referred to the financial support that kings, popes, and the wealthy — think Medici! — have provided to musicians, painters, sculptors, and writers so that these creatives could continue to produce great works of art.

Today, we look back at the tradition of art patronage and recognize the noble acts of support that have shaped the world of art across time and place.

At Artera, we believe the arts are an essential part of the human experience and that supporting artists’ creative journeys are mission-critical. We’re not millionaires and we’re not nobility, but we asked ourselves, what if we could all become patrons of the artists that inspire us? What if we, as a community, could help an artist carry out their artistic vision with lots and lots of small investments? Well, we think that would be revolutionary.

Artists inspire us. We feed off their imagination. We smile at their chutzpah and their personal forms of self-expression. And we acknowledge that they make manifest the ideas and dreams of our current age. They ARE the cultural zeitgeist. We rely on them…so let’s make it easier for them to rely on us.

Artists rely on patrons, who are oftentimes institutions with highly complex politicized structures, in both the public and private spheres. Artists compete against one another for a limited number of available grants, making the realization of an artist’s concept a dream that takes years to complete with drip by drip, on-and-off funding that comes over a long period of time.

Artera’s goal is to revamp this whole approach. Artera helps facilitate the process of turning our art-loving community into an active community of art patrons. We make it easy for you to find great artists, get inspired by their creativity, and support their journey — through big and small investments. We’ve taken away all barriers: no galleries, no intimidation, no previous knowledge of art required. If you like what the artist is producing and if you believe in their vision, become a patron by buying ARTERA. That’s it.

A PATRON IS:

A CHAMPION of the arts

A PROTECTOR of the arts

A DEFENDER of the arts

A LEADER of the arts

A GUARDIAN of the arts

AN ADVOCATE of the arts

Who do you want to be?
